Waiting

So, it has been a little quiet around here for the last few weeks. Mainly it's because I'm waiting for some large updates. In a few weeks no more then 1 major update and 3 minor updates are scheduled to appear.

The major one is the arrival of FreeBSD 8.0 which will be a very interesting release. Mainly because some major improvements in the network and USB stack, ZFS version 13 as stable and performance enhancers to the jail environment. So a very interesting release.

The minor version updates are the Ubuntu, Fedora and CentOS updates that will be interesting. The Ubuntu release is a interesting one after the miserable release of the 9.04 version. I personally had to reinstall three of my computers because of this botched release with the 8.10 version. It's one of the reasons I started to use Fedora again.

Other then that, I'm now looking at the Kerberos authentication protocol and how that works. It's not a easy thing to understand right of the bat, but I see the usefullness of the system.

So in a near future there will probaly be an article about this, and I'm also working up updating and refreshing the first two articles Switching to Linux and Unix toolbox.
